Message	who actually gives a crap about the work he does and the shop's reputation? While he could have mounted 19" and larger tires for others problem-free, it doesnt mean he couldnt have gotten short tempered with your tire after getting some text message drama from his baby's mama and didnt feel like being careful with your wheel/tire. It could have been giving him some trouble and if he is an unprofessional douche he might have just given it the "fuck it" treatment and tried to force it rather than figure out what the problem was. Now I realize there is not alot to mounting tires, I have mounted/balanced my tires on my stock wheels but not 18" and the guy showing me how to do it even told me if I didnt use care I could fuck my 16" tires up. I think the most likely, and probably true cause for your situation here is the tech fucking it up and not feeling like coming clean about it. I wouldnt be surprised if the shop owner takes it out of their pay if he has to replace tires.
